Welcome to the Madge Lake Walleye Cup, the seventh tournament on the CWT’s Trail To The Top and the last tournament of the Sask Slam. Anglers come from all over to fish ‘majestic’ Madge Lake and its abundant walleye population, locating in one of the most beautiful destination in the province, Duck Mountain Provincial Parks. Like other one day competitive fishing events, the MLWC is the perfect choice for anglers just starting out in tournament fishing as well as more seasoned pros that want to introduce their families to what they do, which means that the competition stress is dialed down and the fun factor is dialed way up!
The Kamsack area is rich with Ukrainian culture and as such we include a wonderful banquet on Rules Night that includes perogies, cabbage rolls, sausage and - new for this year - Shishliki! You will love the this home-cooked, authentic feast, but…we should probably apologize to you in advance, as you may find your boat riding a little low during the tournament, and your raingear’s just a touch tighter than you remember.
For those of you that like to take in a round of golf after you day pre-fishing, bring your clubs and enjoy a round or two at the Madge Lake Golf Resort, just outside the park. It’s a course not to be missed!
James E. Turner
James Turner has been the driving force behind the MLWC since its inception, and couldn't have made a better choice of event given his love of fishing and passion for marketing.
Madge Lake Walleye Cup is the newest of many tournaments that James has added to his list of events, and as such it is the one that he holds most dear to his heart. MLWC is an event that James continues his combined vision of conversation and education about our Saskatchewan fisheries and their importance for future generations.
Through his work with both the Saskatchewan Sportfish Research Group and the Government of Saskatchewan , James and his team have helped spread the word about conservation in the fisheries and education about invasive species issues. It is his hope that educating the masses will ensure the fisheries will survive and thrive for future generations to enjoy!
